READ Instead // 02

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. This was definitely more of a mind candy read for me. After last month's book, it was nice to have something simple and lighthearted. I had never read this before, though it has always been on my list. I really enjoyed it. It's quite different from the movie. This version from Barnes and Noble is so fun. I love the artwork in it. It's definitely a book I am excited to read with my children some day.

  1. I can imagine this book would be wonderful! I love the classic kids books but I have never read this one. I absolutely loved Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. I loved the movie as a kid but was never really into reading too much. In Junior high was had to gain a certain about of points by reading books. The harder the books the higher the points. Annoyed as I was that I had to be reading instead of running around outside I really, really loved this book and still do today!

  9. I have never read that book. I'm currently reading (struggling through) Shantaram. It's long and I'm not too fond of all the philosophical conversations in the book.

  10. This version is gorgeous! I've never read the book, but do love the movie, so I'll have to check it out. I think you have to have some fun reads mixed in to actually enjoy the reading process! Good for you for sticking with this goal!

  11. I love that book! I read it a bit ago when I was bored and picked it up in my parent's room. I was so surprised. I love the old style of writing it has. :)

  14. I love the Oz series! As a child I never read it but I've always been fascinated with the worlds authors create (Harry Potter included) and I was so intrigued by those books. I'm currently halfway through the series, on a break. I think it's an absolute shame that the Oz world isn't a bigger part of childhood.
