I'm Not Even Sorry

I come from a family that religiously adheres to the No Christmas decor until the day after Thanksgiving rule. I get it. It's in my blood and bones. I totally get it. BUT, this is the first year we have our own place that we will be in through the holidays. November 1st hit and I was just needing to feel Christmas. I mean, this is the FIRST time in our three and a half years of marriage that we have been able to have our own tree, small as it may be. I have a lot of pent up Christmas decor energy. You better believe I am taking advantage of it. Only a few weeks a year of Christmas joy is not enough. It doesn't help that Bridget's Christmas board on pinterest is just so good I can't even.

You can be mad and bah humbug about how it's too early. Whatever, man. The biggest complaint I have seen from people is they say if we decorate too early, we're forgetting Thanksgiving. On the contrary, my dears. I love Thanksgiving and I actually feel more excited for it with the little bits of Christmas cheer in our home. (Also thankful for my Mother-in-law for letting me pick out a bunch of ornaments from her collection last year. Also the Hummel ones from my Grandparents. They make the tree look great)

I'm planning on adding more to the house but Jordan said I had to wait until after Thanksgiving. So there ya go.

  1. If it were up to me, a Christmas tree would be year round home decor. Come on, who wouldn't want twinkle lights up for 12 months of the year?

  6. Psssh mine went up over the weekend (both of them!). They're bare for the time being, but the Christmas spirit slowly seeps into my house throughout November and then with a vengence after my son's birthday on the 18th. I love it!

  7. I feel the same exact way this year!! And we also have a Christmas tree this time too! And a lot more space for decorations. I'm compromising with myself to wait until the week of Thanksgiving to put up the tree. But you can bet that I'm listening to a bunch of Christmas music. I even had the primary kids sing Christmas songs last week, haha.

  9. Ha, it seems like all the bloggers I follow have been over-eager about Christmas lately. I'm usually one to admonish people for putting decorations up before December, but even I'm starting to feel the Christmas bug and want to get our tree already!

  10. Oh my gosh! This is our first time as a married couple (just shy of 2 years) getting to have our own tree in our own place as well! We totally get your excitement to decorate! My husband is actually more excited than I am! We got all our decorations out this morning and headed out to find a tree but were so sad to find out that the real trees don't go on sale until after Thanksgiving! Boo!
I think those white circus figures (I think that's what they are?) are the best tree ornament I've seen. The guy even has a hairy chest! Awesome.

  11. 1) Love the black and white photos on your wall. 2) I don't celebrate Christmas. I have never up a tree or hung decorations. But I'm so tempted to buy one of those balls you hang on Christmas trees. So pretty.

  14. ahh I'm so excited for Christmas but definitely won't be decorating until December - we usually wait until about the 12th as we buy a real tree and if you put it up any earlier than that, it's completely dead and bare by Christmas day!
