Clean Living//Makeup Samples

I ordered a bunch of clean makeup samples the week I started reading No More Dirty Looks. I got them in the mail last week and have had so much fun trying everything.

I have mentioned before, I have really sensitive skin. I'm allergic to nickel. I break out easily with foreign products and often in high heat. Even with hypoallergenic products, I still get red and itchy. SO, now that I have given you my short sob story... Since switching to clean products my skin has felt wonderful. No redness, no itching. It is such a relief.

I ordered all the samples from two different sites: Spirit Beauty Lounge and Alima Pure. Since reading this book, I have had several people tell me different makeup companies to look into. Majority of them claim to be clean and generally they are better than the drug store makeup brands. But if you read the ingredients, you can often find not so good stuff. I unfortunately found this to be true for Lush Cosmetics. But I didn't find any products on the above websites that had hidden toxic ingredients.

I haven't been wearing a lot of makeup the last few weeks and part of the reason is you don't have to wear a lot of these products to get the job done. Also, because my skin is feeling great, I don't need to cover it up so much. If I haven't properly communicated it yet...I am loving it.

What clean makeup or other facial products are you using?

  1. I'e actually started switching up my body products before my makeup ones since I use body lotions and such on larger portions of my skin. I use organic coconut oil exclusively as my body lotion. It also doubles as eye makeup remover. I'm going to try it as shaving creme.

I switched to Tom's natural deodorant in Lavender and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Although, I haven't tried using it during a sweaty workout yet.

I've also ordered some natural shampoo and I've got my fingers crossed it makes my hair silky rather than greasy... we'll see. So much of natural beauty is trial and error.

  2. I want to try out coconut oil on my face/hair and "no poo" with apple cider vinegar and baking soda! I also am in desperate need of a clean mascara/eyeliner that does the job. Really that's all the makeup I wear! Thanks for this post, I'll check out those websites now!

  6. I make my own tea tree toner and I use almond oil and coconut oil regularly. I use a lot of products but I like to keep things simple (and natural) where possible.

  7. I use weleda lotion/moisturizer products + I love them! Finding a good clean facial moisturizer was tough for me, but weleda gets the job done + isn't crazy expensive. You can find it at whole foods or similar grocery store. - Court | lovecourtxoxo.com
