Owned

I guess you could say I'm going through a quarter-life wardrobe crisis. I have been selling practically everything in my closet. To sell each piece, I hang them on the wall to photograph with my phone. Sometimes a piece will get left up. I'll see it out of the corner of my eye and it makes me stop. I don't know what it is about a dress on a hanger in the middle of the living room that makes me so contemplative. Each piece of clothing has its own personality. They each hold their own. So much so that it makes me stop in my tracks to admire it. Neither one is like the other and you wouldn't want them to be.

Lately I feel like my clothes own me. This should be the other way around, obviously.

A lot of things are "owning" me currently. This creative space, for example. When your hobbies take control of you, it's time to step back. I've found a need to cleanse and renew. I read this post last week and it definitely hit the nail on the head. I've become a watered down version of myself. This site has started to wear me around like a pretty dress and it's doing all of the talking. And I've let it. The truth is I have more to offer than the content I am currently putting out.

The month of June will be a break for me on this site: my time to cleanse and renew. A lot of changes are happening next month. We'll be moving and starting brand new with Jordan's new job. It's a good time to get back to basics. When I come back in July I hope to be here creating content I can be proud of. (I still have a few things to share with you through the week. You're not getting rid of me that easy. )

  1. You will definitely be missed. Yours is one of my very favorite blogs to read! I understand the need to recharge, though. I go in about a million different directions all the time. Enjoy your June!

  2. Girl, me too. I have literally gotten rid of everything I own twice. My wardrobe now consiste of five colors and two patterns. It makes getting dressed and packing for trips so easy.

  9. I've been feeling a need lately to maybe step back too. Maybe not so much completely away from the blog but definitely less time there. When you start to dread something, that is not good.

I hope life is treating you well & you are getting refreshed.
