Conference Weekend

If you're looking for us the next couple days, we will be nestled inside watching General Conference. Yesterday we went out and got a bunch of snacks and we are ready to listen to the words of latter-day prophets. If you are in need of peace, hope, or light, General Conference is a place to find it. The next session is about to start, so I got to go!

Eisley Show

We had so much fun seeing Eisley last night! Jordan fell in love with one of the opening bands, Tallhart. Rightfully so, because they are amazing. I got to meet and chat with my instagram buddy, Christie Dupree. She is in the band Merriment. Great show! I had too much fun. (If you want to use any of these images on other social sites, please link back to this site!)

Guest Post.

I forgot to tell you that I am guest posting over at Life Like Honey. So you should totally go check it out here! Now I am going to go try and find the motivation to do anything but stay in my pajamas all day. I mean, what is a day off if you cant sit in your pajamas all day? Happy Wednesday!

You've Got Mail.

This month's trade comes from Rae's closet: this lovely sweater from Banana Republic. Make sure you check out how Rae styled the sweater at An Eclectic Heap.

This is where I ask for something very important from you all. I have been craving the movie You've Got Mail like nobody's business. Let's try not to focus on the fact that I don't already own it on DVD and instead focus on the fact that Walmart doesn't have it in their stores. THATS right! Oh, and can we just establish that there is nothing like the shame that is digging through the $5 movie bin at Walmart? I mean really, can you appear more desperate? "Yes people, I am going to dig to find the movie that I need. Look all you want!" There is no elegant way to look through those bins. Anyways, this is not about the $5 bins. I was going to go to Target to try and find the movie but I really had to pee and my car was low on gas and I've had this hangnail on my finger all morning and what if I got all the way down there and it wasn't there? I would just like to live in a world where I can go to the closest store and know it will satisfy all my Meg Ryan needs. Ya know? What I'm really trying to get at is, do you know where I can find You've Got Mail?

Birthday Fun.

We had a lot of fun yesterday celebrating Jordan's birthday. Shopping, eating yummy food, soaking up the nice weather, seeing The Hunger Games and just being together. It wasn't my birthday, but it sure felt like a nice present getting to hang out with this guy all day.

Shout Hooray.

Today is Jordan's day. In honor of his birthday, here are some of my favorite things about this man. 1. He is the funniest guy around. 2. He gives really good back scratches. 3. He is an excellent gardener and, even better, he loves it. 4. He loves my family and has embraced them as his own. 5. He is an excellent grill chef. 6. He has a very calm presence and is always even-tempered. 7. He is incredibly patient with me and supports me in everything I do.
I love you so much, honey! Happy Birthday.

The Best Mail Ever.

Before I started seriously offering blog design, I did a design for the lovely Katherine from Thrifted Things. She had said she wanted to find a way to thank me for helping her. While I thought it was very sweet, I was not expecting her to do anything major for me. A few weeks ago, I got a box in the mail and at first I was like, "Crap, was I impulsive online shopping while on my period again? Gosh, I have got to stop doing that." After racking my brain for a few minutes trying to remember what I could have bought, I opened it to find a plethora of thrifted, vintage-y clothes from Katherine. Oh, the colors! The patterns! I was in heaven. The jumper, seen above, was in that box. It also contained the sweetest little note that anyone ever did see. It totally made my day. Thanks again, Katherine!

P.S. Thanks to everyone that contacted me about the ad swap. There were a lot more than I was expecting. I have chosen all the ads for now. But I will let you know when I decide to switch them all out with new ones!

Ad Swap?

Up until now, I have refrained from putting buttons from other people on here. But I have decided I would like to try doing an ad swap with anyone that is interested. What do you think? If you would like to trade buttons with The Secret Life of Bee, then email me at brnn.lmkn@gmail.com. If no one is interested, then that answers my question! :)

In other news, I was getting terribly sentimental and googly-eyed updating this today. Hope you're all having a good week.

Thoughts for You.

So I was tagged by the lovely Brittany to do this question and answer thing. It had taken me forever to fill out the darn thing and somehow it was all deleted. Bye bye, woo, see ya. All gone. I don't have the energy to do it all again. The only thing that the world will be missing from it is learning that "Whip My Hair" is the most played song on my itunes... So there's that.

As I mentioned before, my oldest, younger brother (that's a real thing) is currently serving a full time mission in the Marshall Islands. It has definitely been rough for him so far, but he is doing well and this is the best thing for him in his life right now. Today I got an email from my mother that had a bunch of quotes Spencer had wanted to pass along to close friends. There was one particular quote that really struck me and I wanted to share. I don't know the source, he said it was from a book:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who are we to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Who are you not to be? You are a Child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure. We are all meant to shine as children, too. We were born to manifest the glory of God within us. It is not in some of us, it is in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence liberates others."
Happy Monday!

Date Night.

Jordan and I had a really awesome date tonight. Obviously, we went to 59 Diner. We have been really obsessed with chocolate malts lately, all thanks to Smashburger. The ones at this diner were quite delicious as well. I think it was Jordan's favorite part of the meal. After dinner we went shopping for birthday presents for husband because he is gonna be 27 next weekend (!). I watched him try on a lot of different clothes and laughed a lot because he makes me do that. He humored me and tried on a few things that he didn't believe would look good and, lo and behold, I ended up being right. Except when I made him try on a man cardigan. He was not having that. Overall, really awesome date. Five stars.

Rosie.

1. This weekend was not as good as I'd hoped. I was actually excited to get back to work.
2. I actually really enjoy my new job. I still want to buy everything in the store.
3. I am really anticipating this new album. I want it to come out already.
4. I got this Rosie the Riveter shirt a month or so ago. It is now one of my favorites because, duh.
5. I will just be honest, I am getting overwhelmed with all of the blog designs I have lined up to do right now. Happy but stressed.
6. I started watching The Office again from the very beginning. It was such a solid show until season 6.
7. I have been thinking a lot about getting my Bachelor's degree. (I only have my Associate's degree.) The prospect of going back to school has been really exciting.
8. I need to call my mom. I'm gonna go do that.

It's Raining.

It's supposed to rain all weekend. So far, it has done just that. I guess it's just going to be a few lazy days off. I'm not complaining. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :)

Records.

Since Jordan and I got married, I have been slowly gathering a nice collection of records. At first it was so I could frame the envelopes. Then it became about wanting to listen to them. (Whodathunk?) I have a confession, though: we don't actually own a record player, YET. I know I know, lame. That is our next (medium sized) purchase. We will hopefully be getting one in the next couple of months, along with a lot of other things. I guess for now, this pile of albums will have to be something pretty for me to look at.

Graffiti.

Just a few snapshots from yesterday. We had an awesome weekend. It consisted of kolaches and estate sales and naps and Smashburger and The Office and exploring and talks about the future and sitting in the sun. Now it's back to reality, I guess. Why can't the weekend be longer?
