Regina Spektor, I Love You.

It's been two years since we last heard from Regina Spektor but we finally have new music in our hands. I have a deep, borderline unhealthy, love for Regina and I was really excited when I found out this album was coming. Unfortunately, I have to admit, I wasn't blown away like I hoped to be. Now, Regina is incredible and significantly better than what they play on the radio. I will always love her, but this album leaves me wanting. I started listening to her when I was fifteen and the thing that attracted me most to her music was how raw and unapologetic her sound was. She challenged everything I felt I knew about music. There are four songs on this album that I feel follow that pattern (Oh Marcello, Ballad Of A Politician, Patron Saint, and Open). I still recommend this album to everyone. Like I said, I will love Regina forever and always. The video below is a song on the extended version that she did with her husband. (Apparently she got married in the last two years and no one knew about it.)

I absolutely love Regina Spektor!! I'd heart she had a new album coming out and now I'm definitely going to check it out! I feel like I have a connection to her because we went to the same college (Purchase College), even though she went there before I did. Silly, I know, but it makes me happy. :)

we adore her too -- actually, robbie's a tad cuckoo for her tunes. i honestly didn't even know she'd come out with a new album, so thank you for sharing -- and thank you for your honest opinion of it. it looks darling...we'll have to pick it up. xo.

I love love Oh Marcello. I agree, it has her signature unapologetic feel. And holy heck, she got married? Good for her. I love Call Them Brothers, and I think I love it more now that I know it's her husband that's singing :)

You know, the only song I've heard by her is 'The Call' and OHMYWORD its like one of my most FAVORITE songs, from one of my favorite movies 'Prince Caspian'. It makes me sad. :/

Ohh boy, I feel the EXACT same way about Regina's new album. I absolutely adore her, but her newer music is missing that raw element that I fell in love with.
