In A Bit Of A Funk.

I've been in a little bit of a funk lately. There is a sure-fire way to get yourself in a funk that I have found to be very successful: Look at your life and compare it to what you thought your life would look like at this time. You can also throw in comparing your life to your friend's lives, because that always helps too.

I am trying to find comfort in words from the amazing Marjorie Pay Hinckley:

“We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are.”
***
“The trick is to enjoy life. Don't wish away your days, waiting for better ones ahead.”
***
“There are some years in our lives that we would not want to live again. But even these years will pass away, and the lessons learned will be a future blessing.”
***
“Everything you are learning is preparing you for something else.”

I cannot tell you how much these words apply to my life right now. Maybe they apply to yours too and can bring you comfort as well.

  2. I love this! I'd like to develop that "maturity to stop trying to prove something." I always feel that need and pressure to be proving something, even though i have no idea what it is. it just doesn't make sense and wastes energy.

    thanks for these reminders :)

  5. Aww who's ever is where they thought they'd be when they were younger? It's just part of life. But the best thing is we're probably a lot more human and a lot more relatable to people now than 5 or so years ago. That's one thing going for all of us. :)

  17. why do the Hinckley's have to be the best ever? I love that she mentioned that we have to learn to be content with what we are. that is certainly something we have to learn--it's a process and sometimes it takes a few funks to get there.

Thanks for this, i'm loving your blog. as always.

p.s i downloaded that software you told me about! it's so fantastic!

Just wanted to let you know I came across your blog tonight and couldn't stop going back through all your posts. I'm so loving your style, pictures, and beautiful words.

Also these words from Hinckley are actually exactly what I needed to read at this moment in time. My husband and I are facing a lot of hard change soon due to his Navy career, and I need to remember the words more often. So thank you for sharing.
