Records.

Since Jordan and I got married, I have been slowly gathering a nice collection of records. At first it was so I could frame the envelopes. Then it became about wanting to listen to them. (Whodathunk?) I have a confession, though: we don't actually own a record player, YET. I know I know, lame. That is our next (medium sized) purchase. We will hopefully be getting one in the next couple of months, along with a lot of other things. I guess for now, this pile of albums will have to be something pretty for me to look at.

  1. i started collecting records years ago, back when virgin and tower records were still around. but only recently got a suitcase record player. it's definitely not as fancy as a whole set-up, but it'll do for now. i love the size of them and really being able to see the album art.

  2. I love your collection! I grew up with albums, so I have quite the collection myself! You'll have to find yourself a record player soon, I still have the one I used in High School!

  3. I have the same Mary Poppins record! I also found some fun Disney stories on vinyl that are too cute. Can't wait to see what else you find!

Did you know that Julie Andrews would have played Audrey's part save that Audrey looked stunning in the dress for the ball. Audrey wasn't the singer the Julie was but boy.oh.boy did she look super in that dress

  6. oh I'm so excited for you to listen to them! My man is a sound engineer (aka sound snob) and highly prefers tape and vinyl to any digital recording. And crazy thing is I can tell a difference myself! The sound just fills the room, like it's happening right then and there.

Just a tip, I wouldn't buy a vintage player, although "neater" they usually have a lot of problems (I know this from experience). We purchased a remake from Crosley (I can't remember the original site we got it from, but you can google them. They are the same brand that Urban sells but you can find them cheeper elsewhere).

also, how fun is it to save for these things together as a couple?! We saved for ours for what felt like forever but when we finally got it, it was all sorts of rewarding :)

  12. That's so funny just yesterday I wrote down on my list of things to blog, to blog my records. I have been meaning to do this forever. The last day of our honeymoon we went to a record store in Seattle and bought a bunch because two days later we moved to Switzerland and I needed records there/here!

I love that you used different surfaces behind them, especially the fur.

I love finding the old classic records. So great that you have all these. In the thrift stores here they have some American artists, but mostly funny Swiss music. Ha.
