I like collecting books. I collect different editions of my favorite books. I also collect pretty children's books. I have a strange love for the art on book covers. I totally judge books by their covers. Lately I've been thinking about the assumptions we can make about others based on their "covers". With the internet these days it often seems easy to know what is going on in other people's lives. We start to assume what we see is all there is to be seen. But the truth is, there will always be thoughts and feelings we hold inside that the rest of the world will not know about. I think that is beautiful. It's something I cannot really explain why I hold so close to my heart but it is kind of like the line in that Regina Spektor song, Better: "If you never say your name out loud to anyone, they can never ever call you by it." Right now I'm finding solace in keeping my feelings to myself. For now it's okay if others see me as only what is on the cover.
