Day Twenty-six.

something old.

This is my great-grandmother. The picture above is the picture I carry of her in my wallet. She passed away a little over three years ago. She is the grandmother I stayed with in New York for my 16th birthday trip. I really love looking at old pictures of her and my great-grandfather. I love learning about my family tree and who I came from. I only knew her a little bit, but I knew she loved me and I knew her enough to love her. Sometimes I like to think my fashion choices and sense of style come from her. She obviously loved pictures because she kept probably every picture she ever took or was given and she wrote on every picture to know who was who and when the picture was taken.

I never knew my great-grandfather but photos of them are my favorite photos ever. I mean, look how cute they are!

The funny thing is she would probably hate that I was putting some of these pictures up here, but they're too good.

This picture above is my all time favorite picture of them. The little boy is my Opa (Grandfather). He looks exactly like my littlest brother, Cooper. I just love how happy they all look.

I hope to someday name a daughter after her. That will take some convincing for Jordan, but I'll probably win. I think my reward for being separated from him for long amounts of time should be getting more of a say in the names of our children. I doubt he'll agree.

  1. You chose to marry him and you were aware of his career choice. Why should you be rewarded for dealing with life, again? He's dealing with the same one.

  2. Thanks, Anon. You always know how to take my jokes the wrong way.

  3. This is such a sweet post. I lost my great-grandmother last August. I'm so thankful that we both got to know our family history. A lot of people don't! XO, Rae Veda

  4. Did I miss it? Am I crazy? What was her name...haha? -Quincey

  5. Um hello...Leslie?
Emma looks a lot like her too!
Amazing how looks can come so far down the line!
And by the way...you will always win on the name game!

  6. Haha, thank you Buffy. That is reassuring.

And Quincey, I didn't say her name because I don't want to give out potential names for future children because I'm selfish and want to use them myself. :)
